Hot Issues

An important part of Historic Charleston Foundation's mission is to "educate the public about the benefits that are derived from preservation." On this page HCF staff will list current issues that are facing Charleston's preservation community. If you would like to be added to our Preservation Alert e-mail list, please send your e-mail address to our Associate Director of Preservation.

S.C. Archives Month at Historic Charleston Foundation's Margaretta Childs Archives

Since the theme of South Carolina Archives Month this year is Archives:  Treasure Maps to the Past, here is a glimpse into the map collection at Historic Charleston Foundation’s Margaretta Childs Archives.  These maps complement the core collection of property records, photographs, and architectural drawings that provide historical background, ownership information, and architectural information on many buildings in the historic district.  The maps also assist researchers who are studying the history of Charleston and the vicinity.
